Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah

WISHING YOU MERRY CHRISTMAS

So glad this year is almost over!!
It's been a long trying and painful year being diagnosed with autoimmune disease (SLE Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis) and Neuropathy. Life could be worse but I am so thankful that I am alive and have a supportive family and friends and surround by the best specialist.

My last visit with my PCP doctor she told me it's important for me to exercise and how it will help my body, and mind. I told her that my best exercise is skating. Now I have both my neurologist and PCP clear me to skate (but very limited) all I have to do is wait for my cardiologist next month to clear me. (fingers crossed) My last echocardiogram still found small amount of fluid in the heart.

Well, I took my doctors advice and I skated last month day before Thanksgiving (my birthday) and this past Friday. I had an amazing day at the rink, skating with friends. The best feeling is when I put on my skates and step on the ice - "it's just magical, you forget everything that is in your head and all you do is just smell the ice and skate".

November 11/27/19 : Took it very slow when I skated in last month - did some stroking, cross overs, and then worked on edges, forward and back 3 turns.  Took the opportunity to show off my dress - finally finished the stoning and I love how it turned out!!

Friday 12/20/19:
Since I am not participating in any Holiday Shows at my rink, I decided to dress up in my holiday goofy outfit...lol.

I skated and felt pretty good, my bones were not in that much pain and felt strong enough to do some small jumps - was a little cautious because I was getting a little short of breath and my heart was beating fast, so decided to sit for a little and sip some water...taking breaks helped.  See my video below:

When I got home, I was not in pain nor the next day just a little sore around the ankles but then it went away. My neuropathy was a bit troublesome, but then again, it doesn't go away! It's going to be a long journey but I am a fighter and I will not give up skating!!

Always strive to inspire others, no matter your challenges, disease or illness, don't give up. Be strong and live life everyday.

Remember just because I don't look sick on the outside, doesn't mean I am not in pain inside!
